Camp Ockanickon/Rock Climbing Trip:
Those going up on Friday night. The plan is to leave around 5:30 from our homes and meet at the Camp. We won’t be carpooling, but we will try to arrive at Ockanickon around the same time to facilitate check in.
Due to COVID restrictions, all scouts and family members should bring their own food.
Eat dinner before you leave on Friday and pack a snack for the evening.
We will eat:
-Saturday breakfast, can be cooked over the campfire or on a camp stove
-Saturday lunch should be a bagged lunch (i.e., sandwich),
-Saturday dinner can be made using a camping stove or the campfire
-Sunday breakfast can be cooked but some scouts find it easier to have something like a meal bar, kind bar or poptarts (fast clean up).
It is best for this trip if the Saturday dinner food is already cooked and it is just being heated up. It would be even better if the item could be heated up in a foil packet by the fire (sloppy joes, taco meat, chicken quesadillas with precooked chicken, meatball sub, etc, hot dog on a stick).
Let us know if your scout needs to keep food cold during the weekend. We have some extra coolers. We will have camp stoves and a campfire. We will have a pot or 2 for hot water. Please send your scout with a pot to use if they need to heat up their food and can’t use the foil packet method.
We are trying to avoid scouts standing next to each other either cooking or cleaning up. For this trip disposable plates and utensils are fine and even encouraged. Due to Covid, we won't be cleaning individual mess kits by the 3 pot method on this trip.
We have a limited number of slots this year so please sign up early to ensure your spot. We'll update scouts on new camp policies and procedures and go through sign up procedures at our upcoming meetings.
Merit Badge selection is open. If you haven't submitted your badges please email Mrs. Cengel asap.
May 21-23, Evansburg State Park with a Horse Trail Ride. Please sign up ASAP if you intend to participate in the trail ride. Each Trail ride is limited to 15 riders. We can set up 2 sessions but we need to know that soon. This can be done as a day trip if your scout has a conflict.
The Scouts can Fund Their Adventure with the new Cradle of Liberty fundraiser just in time to help offset the cost of Resica Summer Camp.
Many of you probably remember the popular Entertainment books with discounts at more than 500,000 places nationwide. This is an electronic version of that coupon book and it can be used all over the US and Canada. It is a contactless sale and you can send the link to friends and family even if they don't live in our area. Scouts earn $7 for each sale. You can make an account with Raisy here and send an email to your family and friends. You don't need to enter their information into Raisy. At the end of the set up you will get a link to a website that is specific to your scout, which will only identify them by their first name.
